BCA Pool League
Policy Changes

Policy Changes for the current (05/06) League Year –

Nine Ball Changes

Scotch Doubles may include Player Members and/or League Members and no longer will be required to be from the same local league.

Eligibility for the BCA National 9-Ball Championships – Player Members may play in the Singles and Scotch Doubles divisions only. League Members may qualify for all divisions of the 9-Ball Championships in two ways: 1) play a minimum of six (6) weeks in the league since January 1, or 2) play as a League Member in the preceding National 8-Ball Championships. All League Members must be current, active players at the time of the 9-Ball event – that is, they must have renewed their membership and played at least once during the current league year. The League Operator must furnish League Member stats to verify the six (6) weeks of play since January 1.

For the National 9-Ball Championships ONLY, it is no longer necessary to have two (2) original players from a team to participate in the Championships. A team must consist of three (3) players (all from the same local league), and one master is allowed per team.

Women’s Team Changes

Women’s teams will be allowed and encouraged to form a team from anywhere in their local league and are no longer required to have three (3) original players from a team, whether playing in the National 8-Ball Championships or the National 9-Ball Championships.

Policy Change for the next (06/07) League Year –

Eight Ball Changes

This rule will take effect June 1, 2006 and apply to the BCA National 8-Ball Championships scheduled for May 11-19, 2007:

No players with Master or Grand Master status will be allowed to play on an open team at the National 8-Ball Championships. They are encouraged to play on local teams (according to local by-laws) to gain their eight (8) weeks eligibility. Masters may then form a Master Team from anywhere in their local league in order to participate in the National 8-Ball Championships.

Western BCA regional
9-ball tournament
countdown begins

Planning for Western BCAs eighth annual regional 9-ball tournament, scheduled for Nov. 2–6 at Chinook Winds Casino Resort in Lincoln City, Oregon, is well underway. Western BCA has been working diligently to ensure that this regional 9-ball tournament is the best yet.

The format for this tournament will be the same as we have all become accustomed to with Masters singles and mixed scotch doubles, and Open men’s and women’s singles, mixed scotch doubles and team events. The second chance tournaments introduced at the last 8-ball tournament were such a success that they will be offered again. There will be mini-tournaments to satisfy the competitive appetite of all in attendance.

Entry deadline dates have been set. The entry deadline is Sept. 30; late entries must be postmarked by Oct. 7. Entry forms soon will be available from your league operator and on the web site.

The entry fees have increased slightly and will be:

  • Masters singles and mixed scotch doubles events, $45 plus $5 registration fee per player
  • Open singles and mixed scotch doubles events, $30 plus $5 registration fee per player
  • Team event, $90 plus $15 registration fee per team

All of the money collected (less registration fees) will go toward each event’s payouts.

Some new policies will affect the regional 8-ball tournament scheduled for Feb. 28–March 5, 2006 at Chinook Winds Casino Resort. Expect more information on these changes or ask your league operator. Briefly, the major changes:

  • The formation of a Grand Master classification (note: this is not a new division)
  • No Master players allowed on an Open team (in accordance with new BCA Pool League policy)
  • Only one Grand Master player allowed per Master team
  • Master teams can be composed of sanctioned players from throughout Western BCA
  • The Novice division will be awarded trophies in lieu of cash prizes and will have decreased entry fees

Congratulations to the players who moved up to the Masters division because of the 2005 regional 8-ball tournament. They are Harold Prine, Mike Duebendorf, Chad Bisconner, Paul Mullens, Chuck Mileur, Ken Welch, John Rogers, Steve Register, Steve Tune, Shad Pantle, Michael Poole, Steve Solodey, Kim Jones, Chelsey Davis and Janie Reckard.

8-Ball legends to compete in World Championship match!

New Pool Tour launches with biggest prize money in history of sport

Las Vegas, NV – The International Pool Tour (IPT), the major new pool organization founded by media mogul Kevin Trudeau and sponsored by NaturalCures.com, will launch with the richest, most high-profile tv event in the history of the sport—a blockbuster world championship match between the greatest pool player of all-time, 9-time World Champion Mike Sigel and the greatest female player of all-time, 8-time World Champion Loree Jon Jones.

The “IPT World 8-Ball Championship” match will take place on Saturday, August 20th, 2005 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, site of many heavyweight championship fights and top sporting events. The 8-Ball Championship will be broadcast on national television, and throughout the world, in early September. It will be the most broadcast pool event in the history of the sport.

It is the first time in the history of pool that the best male pool player and the best female pool player will meet head-on in a championship match. They will play a “Race to 9” per set with the best 2 out of 3 sets winning the match. The ultimate winner of the “IPT World 8-Ball Championship” will be awarded $100,000 cash with the runner-up receiving $50,000, the biggest single pay-day ever in the sport.

“The IPT is bringing back real pool with real rules and real money,” said tour founder Kevin Trudeau. “Thanks to the guaranteed prize money and our enormous tv exposure, pool will finally achieve the same level of interest and excitement as other sports such as golf and games such as poker.”
IPT Founder Trudeau, who launched and owns the Golf TV Channel in the United Kingdom, has built a 2 billion dollar global business empire in television, publishing and marketing.
“This is pool like it was in its glory days- when Fats and Mosconi were playing on national tv’s ABC Wide World of Sports with Howard Cosell commentating,” said Trudeau. “The 8-Ball battle between Mike and Loree Jon will be the most talked-about, and most watched, event in the history of the game. In fact, this is more than just a great championship event. It is the beginning of a new era for the sport of pool.”
The two combatants, Sigel and Jones, are considered true sultans of stroke and are amongst the most legendary players in the sport’s long and colorful history.

“I’ll show the world in this challenge why I’m the greatest player ever, living or otherwise” said Sigel, also known as Mike “The Mouth.” “I’m going to put on a pool show like nothing before in history. There isn’t a player in the world who can beat me. Loree Jon may be the best female player ever but no one can beat me playing pool—especially a woman.”

Responded Jones, “Women have never been allowed to play in men’s events for big money. All the men players think that women don’t have a chance playing against a man. I’m going to show the world that not only can women be competitive but that a woman can beat the greatest pool player in history. Mike never shuts up and I’ll be bringing some duct tape to use over Sigel’s mouth.”

The dramatic 8-Ball championship between Sigel and Jones promises to be the hottest, hippest event in the history of pool. Celebrities, athletes and well-known luminaries from the world of pool will be in attendance at the 8-Ball bout in Las Vegas.

The International Pool Tour, which debuts with the Sigel-Jones showdown at Mandalay Bay, will stage a minimum of four high-profile, televised 8-Ball tournaments over the next year. Each tournament will have a minimum of one million dollars in prize money, regardless of the number of players.

The tournaments will be held in top casino/hotels in the U.S., Europe and Asia and will be open to men and women of all ages. All participants must be members of the IPT but there are no other restrictions. IPT player entry fees will be under $200 for each event.

One of the International Pool Tour headline tournaments will be the “World 8-Ball Open Championship”. This tournament will have a guaranteed 3 million dollar purse (regardless of number of players) with a record-breaking $500,000 to the first-place winner, by far the richest prize money in the sport’s history.

The total guaranteed prize money for year one of the IPT will exceed $5 million.

All tickets for the “IPT World 8-Ball Championship”, between Mike Sigel and Loree Jon Jones, will be sold in advance of the challenge event. Seating is limited and no tickets will be sold at the door.
